THE BLESSINGS OF ABRAHAM GENESIS 12:1-4, GALATIANS 3:13-14

God came to Abraham and gave him promises. These promises sought to display the following things:

1. Usefulness to God
Abraham becomes a channel of blessings. He responds to God in faith.
We therefore can become a blessing to others by;
• Becoming an example- believing God’s word even if things dictate otherwise, overcoming depression even when expectations seem delayed and refusing to be discouraged. We should never let our faith in God be conditional.
• Contributing to the forward movement of God’s kingdom- we usually do not move the kingdom of God forward for 1001 reasons which we always create. You will only become a blessing after you are blessed. You will only become blessed if you chose to be a persistent believer. We must bear in mind that Jesus must reign until he has put his enemies beneath his feet, but he must reign with persistent believers.
2. The promise of significance
• Abraham shall become so significant in the will of God in that God will bless or curse what we chose to believe. God told Abraham that He will bless those who bless him and curse those who curse him.
• We therefore become related to Abraham by having a relationship with Jesus Christ. Through Abraham came Isaac, through Isaac came Jacob, through Jacob came the Nation of Israel and through the nation of Israel came Jesus whom through cam Jesus whom through comes every kind of blessings for he became a curse that we may be blessed.
• Any one who is forwarding God’s gospel is representing God and God shall stand by him/her. (Psalms 106:16, Genesis 20:16)
• God is not looking for givers because he Himself is a give He is simply looking for channels.

3. The promise of Influence among the Nations.
• God said, “In you all the families of the world shall be blessed” which has always been the plan of God.
• When God called Abraham, he was not even a Jew, he was just a heathen someone who worshiped idols.
• When we walk in the blessings of Abraham we therefore have the power to influence every thing we set forth to do or pursue.
